Freedom to Heal the Body
By: Kim Moriyama

Has your body ever faced a health or movement challenge that you were resisting, denying or trying things that didn’t appear to make a difference or, perhaps, even made it worse? I am pretty sure that we all have, because the truth is, as much as we try to control what happens to the body, life doesn’t always go the way we want.
The Sedona Method of Letting Go is a simple, yet powerful way to use self- inquiry to liberate your inner confidence to heal the body and optimize physical health right now. You can let go of any self-sabotage and welcome the courage to sustainably take positive appropriate action for your body.
The Sedona Method does not diagnose, treat, cure, or advise about any medical condition. What it does, is release the emotional and mental blockages that are keeping you from doing what will support your body appropriately and gives you access to clear reason and intuitive knowing.
Anxiety, depression, frustration, guilt, fear, and anger commonly arise from unwanted things happening to the body. The Sedona Method is based on the premise that you are already naturally creative, resourceful and whole, and once you let go of limiting emotions/thoughts, you are freed up to see resources, options and solutions where you used to only see problems. The energy that was bound up in negativity is re-directed to actually healing the issues and you can effortlessly get into action that has a positive impact.
One of the five Sedona Method tools to let go of emotions is called “Deciding to Drop It.” To illustrate, pick up a pen and roll it around in your hand. For the sake of this metaphor, the pen is the unwanted feeling, and your hand represents your clear reason and intuitive knowing. Now, squeeze the pen tightly. If you squeeze hard enough, there will be discomfort, but after awhile the feeling becomes familiar, and we may obsess about it while simultaneously feeling stuck and drained by it. But is the pen actually attached to us? Obviously not. But body challenges can bring up certain feelings that we hang on to unintentionally, and those feelings can get in the way of allowing the body to heal.
“Deciding to Drop It” uses 3 simple questions, “Could I let the pen/limiting feelings go?” (Is it possible?) “Would I let it go?” And lastly, When?” Hopefully the answer is now. But if you feel like you want to hold on longer, give yourself permission to hold on, and if you’re willing to stretch, actually enjoy holding on. Self-Acceptance often instantly releases stuckness. You can also ask yourself, “Would I rather hold on, or would I rather be free?”
If we resist and resent the pen/body issue and try to fix the situation from this perspective, we often backslide and then grip even harder. This may sound silly, but I’m guessing we all have done this with a body issue, or we may have ignored the pen/issue and pushed through doing things the way we always have, trying old solutions that that aren’t working but we still hope they will eventually. Sometimes the pen/issue becomes a repeated conversation topic, much to the chagrin of friends and family.
By letting go of looking for the solution to healing the body through the draining feelings attached to the pen/problem, you can get out of your own way and make better use of your own energies. When you drop the pen, the hand (which in this metaphor represents clear reason and intuitive knowing) is freed up to move and get into action, and/or receive resources which will actually solve the problem. It becomes easier to actually follow the protocols your practitioner gave you, and/or you’ll start to meet people who can help you move forward in a new way and/or you’ll be able to inquire and learn about a procedure or opportunity that you were avoiding because there was a chance you’d be told something you didn’t want to hear.
With all The Sedona Method work and questions, it is very helpful to be kind to yourself and answer spontaneously. Ask your heart the questions. Don’t ask your feelings, they will always tell you to hold on. There are many Sedona Method resources online and through coaching if you’d like to learn more and experiment. I think you will be delighted with what happens. May you discover the Freedom available every moment to do what is best for your body and live life fully.
